Here are the top reasons why people ultimately decide to list their property on the Wake County housing market:

They’ve outgrown their current house. This is especially true for first-time home buyers who purchase a home before they start having children.

They want to upgrade their home. Perhaps they just got a promotion at work or they have a lot more disposable income available. They want to celebrate by upgrading their property to a larger, more modern property.

They just got transferred with their company. Thus, it’s necessary for them to relocate to another community. Generally speaking, people will decide to relocate if their new job is more than an hour away from their home.

Their personal relationships have shifted. Maybe they’ve decided to move in with their significant other or they’ve filed for divorce from their spouse. Whatever the change in relationship, it often calls for a chance in home life too.

The neighborhood has changed. Perhaps the neighborhood they’re living in isn’t as good as it once was or the school districting has changed. This is often a reason for people wanting to list their property.

Their youngest child just went to college. Empty nesters often seek to downsize so that their mortgage payment isn’t as big and they can invest in activities they want to do – like traveling!

They want to see the family more or less. Depending on the particular situation, home owners may want to relocate to be closer to family or father away from family.

They want to defer home maintenance. Sometimes it’s easier to purchase a new property than invest the money into repairing an older property.

They’re retiring. Thus, they may want to live in a home that is smaller and easier to manage – or perhaps has a smaller mortgage payment.

They want the cash in equity. Some home owners have a lot of money tied up in their property and desire to free it up by selling their property.

They want a lifestyle that has more wings than roots. Some people get to a point in life where they no longer want to be tied down to one particular property, neighborhood or city. Thus, it suits their lifestyle better to sell their property and use that money elsewhere.
