Every year, Livability.com names the Top 100 Best Places to Live in the US. And it’s usually not too surprising to see a Triangle-area town (or a few) on that list. And once again, the 2017 Best 100 Places to Live names not one but two towns in the Triangle area.
See Where These Two Triangle Towns Stacked Up!
So, which two Triangle towns made the list? With so many great towns and cities from which to choose, it might be hard to determine which two should come out ahead of the others. But Livability named Cary, NC (coming in at #21) and Chapel Hill, NC (at #55) each a Top 100 Place to Live in the US!
Why Cary is a Top 100 Best Place to Live
There are so many reasons for listing Cary as a Best Place to Live, it’s hard to know where to begin! In addition to being one of the Best Places, it’s also ranked as one of the 5 Most Affordable Cities in North Carolina, a major contributing factor to its selection. Other contributors include its strong economy, outstanding educational system, wealth of amenities, and health-focused culture.
Cary has been listed as a Bike-Friendly Community by the League of American Bicyclists for its miles of biking pathways through town. It’s also got plenty of other parks and recreational opportunities to enjoy, like Hemlock Bluffs or Bond Metro Park. There is plenty of shopping and dining throughout town, and it’s within 15 minutes of major business centers, like the Research Triangle Park, North Carolina State University, and Downtown Raleigh—but it has plenty of its own major and burgeoning companies to offer as well.
Why Chapel Hill is a Top 100 Best Place to Live
Chapel Hill has been listed among the Top 100 Places for four years running, and it’s not hard to see why! From diverse outdoor recreation to outstanding education and career opportunities to exciting and fun entertainment venues, Chapel Hill offers the full package of high-quality living.
It’s the home of UNC Chapel Hill and UNC Health Care. Its charming yet bustling downtown provides plenty of options for shopping, entertainment, nightlife, and plenty of delicious places to eat. With over 350 acres of parkland and 70 acres of open space, the recreational and outdoor opportunities are nearly endless. Plus, easy access to major research and tech industries and other major employers throughout the Triangle make good work easy to come by.
